Cape Town City Tour

The Mother City has been called the Most Beautiful City In The World, and though that may be an over-statement, it isn’t far off the mark. As one moves around a “town” of 4 million people, the views and vistas continually change from one beautiful scene to another. Stopping for photos can be a full-time occupation. Thank heavens for digital cameras.

Cape Town is a city with a long history and a morphing present. First and foremost, it’s a port, so sailors and soldiers and adventurers have been passing through for centuries. The CBD (Central Business District) lies on the old shoreline, (long-disappeared) and blends its’ way up the slopes of Table Mountain, Lions Head, and Devil’s Peak, forming what we call The City Bowl. The old farms became villages, then suburbs, and eventually a part of greater Cape Town, a Uni-city since 2000 with one mayor, one city council, one planning department etc. and includes all the previous suburbs and townships.
A good overview of the city can be had with the popular Red Bus, the City Sight-seeing Bus. Beautiful Daytours offers a short complimentary orientation tour of the City Bowl for each booking of either a Cape of Good Hope Tour or a Winelands Tour, just to get you going.
